Ms. Costin has observed how executives and employees alike can be distracted from core business initiatives by commercial and workplace conflict. Her response to this has been to add mediation to her practice.

Mediation can interrupt the escalation of a dispute before it leads to disciplinary actions, litigation, or other adverse consequences. As an alternative to a protracted legal or investigative process, it encourages the parties involved to reach voluntary and rewarding arrangements, even in highly adversarial matters.

As a mediator, Ms. Costin serves as an impartial, third-party neutral hired jointly by all parties. She has completed additional coursework in mediation at the University of California at Berkeley and San Francisco Community Boards Mediation Services. She is also affiliated with the San Francisco Office of Citizens' Complaints and the Association for Dispute Resolution of Northern California.
